Was in this famous historic home all the way up into the attic, many years ago which is fascinating in wonderful historic Salem, MA i.e. lived in historic beautiful MA for many years before moving to beautiful historic NH where I have deep ancestral roots on my maternal side since 1648 and 1721. Salem is considered "Halloween Central' and is a fun, educational, cultural, historic small city for young and old alike! There's a great Halloween fun house, Halloween parade, real modern day witches, tarot card readings and old historic houses and the Salem Witch's Museum all about the famous Salem Witch Trial of 1692! Including a beautiful boutique hotel, the "Hawthorne Hotel" that has a beautiful ballroom and great tavern to eat in and lovely lobby! Lots of interesting restaurants and shops as well! My three daughters in their teens and 20s always had a blast there and my husband ended up in a video about Salem in the 1990s! Highly recommended for all!! BTW, famous novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne, "America's first novelist" was born and raised in Salem whose ancestor was a judge during the trial and is the author of famous, 'The Scarlet Letter' as well, made into movies only the last one with Demi Moore/Gary Oldman changed the original ending, unfortunately! Hawthorne was very handsome as a young man and his wife Sophia , an artist called him "her Adonis" she was the younger sister of Elizabeth Peabody who was the first woman to own a book store in Boston and a teacher and who started the Kindergarten movement in America. Their other sister Mary Peabody, married education reformer Horace Mann and the Horace Mann schools are named after him. They used to walk all the way from Salem to Boston in the 19th century and taught themselves foreign languages! They were also very close to the famous Alcott family i.e. Louisa May Alcott of "Little Women" fame and the famous Transcendental writers/philosophers like Emerson, Thoreau and Bronson Alcott who was the first teacher in America to admit a black child as a student in his school "Fruitland' in historic Concord, MA in the mid-1800s, where they're all buried at SleepyHollow Cemetery on Writer's Hill! You can also read about them in the great book, "The Peabody Sisters, Three Woman Who Ignited American Romantism"!, wonderful read! The town of Peabody, MA is named after the Peabody family.

The young lady who hosts this beautiful, historical mansion is a definite asset! She is a stellar narrator, with an unassuming, friendly and enthusiastic personality! Loved watching this girl engaging this man she is greeting and really drawing him in! And let’s not forget her knowledge and facts of some pretty complicated decor styles and the history behind the changes. Looooovvve it!
